Pre Covid-19 the first Saturday of December was my favorite day, the community coming together helping those in need, smiles on everyone's faces, endless hugs, the sound of children singing and laughing. Waking on Saturday I was nervous and anxious, not knowing how the Holiday Distribution would go and what the response would be. It was a small; but, mighty group of volunteers that unloaded the truck, sorted sweat shirts, set up food boxes and laundry baskets of household items. Santa was there with his favorite helper handing out candy and visiting with the families while they waited in the cars. The families were so grateful for the food and household Items; but, happiness was overwhelming when I handed them the gift cards. The families that won the smart tv's and other raffles (the drawing was done prior to the first arrival) there were cheers and tears of joy! It was not the usual McKenna Youth Foundation Holiday Party for the children; but, I was so happy we could help these families and I truly believe we created a bit of Holiday Magic! Thank you to all who donated time and money to make this day possible! Without a doubt You have made a difference in a child's life!

Holiday Distribution
So, it is Plan B, The McKenna Youth Foundation Holiday Distribution! Thinking of everyone's safety we are not having a Party: but, a drive through Distribution. We need VOLUNTEERS (wearing a mask) 9 am to 1:30pm on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Aunt Chiladas (Squaw Peak) to insure a quick and efficient process. Volunteers will put together food and household item boxes, sort sweatshirts and help load items into the vehicles. Unfortunately there is a Bicycle shortage and after speaking with school official have decided to give gift cards instead this year. We know it has been a exceedingly difficult year and are hoping to spread some cheer and if we are lucky a little holiday magic. Covid-19 has been devastating to families, businesses and especially non profits. Donations are down and we were forced to cancel our annual fundraiser this year. Needless to say Funds are at an all time low and WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY FOR THE CHILDREN is scheduled for December 5, 2020 at Aunt Chiladas Squaw Peak. It is unclear at this time if we will be able to use the normal format for the party or Plan B. You know the old saying Hope for the Best, But, Plan for the Worst! We will be prepared because this year Families in need require our help more than ever!
