On December 3rd the McKenna Youth Foundation held the annual Holiday Party for the Children at Aunt Chilada’s. Our Volunteers really made a difference! Everyone arrived bright and early to unload the trucks, sort food, household items, prepare packages with new clothing and set up for the party.  We had just completed assembling the last bikes when the rain started. (First time in 25 years that it rained during the party) Our Wonderful Volunteers jump into action setting up umbrellas, moving all the tables inside, so our families would stay dry.  The families truly enjoyed themselves, I received multiple phone calls, notes and cards expressing their thanks.  We served lunch and holiday treats, held a raffle with over 150 items (55 inch smart TVS, laptops, tablets, gift cards, gift baskets and so much more). After the family had time to enjoy the festivities, each family had the opportunity to visit and take pictures with Santa and the Mrs. Now here is where the Volunteers really shine, ALL the bikes, gifts, clothing, food, household items and bikes had to be loaded into the family's vehicle. This is trying on the best days; but in the pouring, cold rain it is quite the CHORE! We were soaking wet, quite literally head to toe.  I can say it was worth it as long as we brought a little holiday magic  into these families lives. This day was not possible without our Donors and Volunteers. So, Thank You, Thank You!
